HTC's CEO Peter Chou just took the stage and is wasted no time in introducing us to the 3rd generation HTC One: the HTC One M9 and more...
The One M9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which couples a quad-core 2GHz 64bit capable ARM Cortex A57 and a quad-core 1.5GHz 64bit capable ARM Cortex A53 in big.LITTLE configuration along with the brand new Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM. That hardware powers Android 5.0 Lollipop which is further enhanced by HTC's latest iteration of its own take Android, the new Sense 7.
The Ultrapixel camera also makes an appearance on the phone, but this time it's for selfies. The rear camera is now a Toshiba made 20MP sensor with dual LED flash (no duo camera and no optical stabilisation) HTC's BoomSound speakers also gets a little boost, now using Dolby for a simulated 5.1 surround sound.
But it doesn't stop there. HTC branched away from its smartphone only strategy with the HTC Re and today they showed us their brand new wearable, the HTC Grip fitness band. The band includes premium features like GPS reception and is sensor-packed!
If you though the HTC Grip was the only accessory they had, you're wrong. HTC also announced their take on virtual reality by showing us something wholly unexpected from the them, the Vive VR headset, which is created through a partnership with Valve. Vive is designed to make its VR experience as immerseive as possible with a 90hz refresh rate. Sales of a developer edition for the Vive will begin this spring which is before commercial availability, that's due before the year’s out.
